A Day in Kyoto

I have been to Kyoto 2x before this trip and I still get to see new places and experience new things each time I visit. Kyoto is always a must visit when you come to the Kansai Area since it’s Japan’s old capital. Most of the important shrines and temple are in the area.

This time I visited a familiar locations which is awesome because I didn’t really get a good photo the first time I was there. I also visited Japan in fall for the first time and it was beautiful.

Itinerary # 1: Kinkaku-ji Temple or Golden Pavillion

This temple is really popular amongst the tourist. You’ll have a hard time getting a decent photo with you and the temple without any photo bombers. This temple is also the rest house of the late shogun.

The ticket to get in the temple is a charm of some sort that can be used to keep out bad spirits by putting it on you door.

P.S. It’s not painted or made in gold.

Itinerary #2: Gion

This place is known for being the Geisha District in Kyoto. It is filled with tea houses and small shops that maintained the look of traditional houses within the area. It’s also known for Geisha Sighting although I haven’t seen any Geishas being there for 2x already. Nevertheless it’s a must visit to experience traditional Kyoto.

Itinerary #3: Kyomizu-Dera

Kyomizu-Dera is one of the highly touristy area in Kyoto. There are a lot of people everywhere and I can see why. The view was just beautiful sadly I couldn’t enjoy it since the temple was under renovation and I was part of a tour so I shouldn’t go around on my own. However I could imagine how beautiful this place would be with cherry blossoms. .

I should also mention that you need to go through a sea of people before getting to the temple.
